new Quinnipiac University Poll A report released Wednesday shows President Biden’s slim lead over former President Trump has disappeared even as Trump’s criminal trial continues in New York City.

Trump’s trial, related to 34 charges of falsifying business records, began last week with jury selection and moved to opening arguments this week. Mr. Trump has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Opinion polls have revealed that the presidential election is a close race, with Biden and Trump having an even approval rating at 46%.

Including independent presidential candidates Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (16%) and Dr. Cornel West (3%), as well as Green Party candidate Jill Stein (3%), their support remains tied at 37%. I’m here.

These numbers represent a significant narrowing of the lead with Mr. Trump, who had a 48% to 45% lead over Mr. Biden in a March Quinnipiac poll. But with the addition of Kennedy, West and Stein, Trump maintained a one-point lead over Biden, 39% to 38%.

Biden’s job approval rating remains at a pitifully low 35%, down from 37% in March, while 61% say they don’t approve of Biden’s job performance, up from 59%. Rose.

When asked about the crimes facing Trump in his ongoing trial in New York, 46% of respondents said they believed the former president committed illegal acts, while 45% said he did not. However, 27% believe he did something unethical but not illegal, and 18% believe he did nothing wrong.

If Trump were to be convicted, 21% said it would make them less likely to vote for him, 62% said it would not affect their vote, and 15% said they would be more likely to vote for Trump.

President Trump maintains his innocence, calling the trial purely political and “political persecution.” The former president, the first in history to be a defendant in a criminal trial, vowed to “tell the truth” if he takes his stand.

He also argued that the case unfairly alienated Mr. Biden from campaigning and gave him an advantage.
