Celebrating 250 Years of the U.S. Marine Corps
For two and a half centuries, the United States Marine Corps has served as a cornerstone of American military strength—shaped by challenges faced in combat and nurtured by the tenets of Semper Fidelis.
Eric Shawn from FOX News highlighted this milestone with the launch of a new series titled “Courage & Commitment: USMC 250.” The show pays tribute to the bravery, sacrifices, and camaraderie inherent in the Marine Corps, showcasing everything from grueling training to history-making battlefields.
In an interview, actor Rob Riggle, who is also a veteran Marine, stated, “We have to win the title [of] Marines.” He emphasized that, even if one does not formally sign up with a recruiter, they are still considered Marines—although, he adds with a chuckle, completion of boot camp is non-negotiable.
Interestingly, VP Vance’s campaign recently took aim at the California government, led by Gavin Newsom, accusing it of spreading misinformation ahead of the Marine Corps celebration.
From the very start, Riggle noted that entering the Corps demands a profound mental and physical transformation—a journey that builds resilience through rigorous training. “People get humbled quickly,” he remarked, acknowledging the steep hurdles that new recruits face.
As part of the series, viewers are taken back to the inception of the Marine Corps in Philadelphia in 1775. It traces its development from an amphibious assault force to the elite organization recognized today. The show also offers behind-the-scenes perspectives on the intense training experiences across Marine bases nationwide, featuring insights from Riggle, veteran and bomb technician Johnny “Joey” Jones, and others.
Specific episodes explore various facets of the Marine Corps. The first episode reflects on the transformative journey from recruit to Marine, while the second dives into significant battles from World War II to the Gulf War. Meanwhile, the third episode looks at veterans from the Global War on Terror and contemporary Marine exercises that celebrate the Corps’ 250th anniversary.
“Courage and Determination: USMC 250” is currently available for streaming, offering an in-depth look at the history and valor of the Marine Corps. This milestone not only honors the past but also emphasizes the ongoing commitment of Marines today.
