The iconic 97-year-old baby food company will feature Sony on its social media channels and marketing campaigns over the course of a year, calling him “our newest Gerber Baby and Chief Growing Officer.”
Sonny has roots in New York as both his parents, Dominique (a stay-at-home mom) and Akil Sr. (an entrepreneur), grew up there. According to the Gerber website.
The toddler, who turned 1 on June 20 and has a sister named Sage, “loves soft ABC books and toy cars, and he also loves playing with toy pots and pans while mommy is making dinner.”
“We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate his first birthday than to be named the 2024 Gerber Baby.” Dominic said in a statement:“We look forward to working with Gerber on a year of adventures ahead as we share his adorable smiling face with families across the country.”
Akil was named after his father, but was given the nickname “Sonny” when Dominique noticed during her pregnancy that “the bright sunlight coming through the window was hitting her belly directly.”
