NYC Creator Takes a Quick Day Trip to Jamaica
A content creator from New York City took a whirlwind trip to Jamaica, flying out for just eight hours and returning the same night. Kevin Droniak, 28, boarded his flight at 5:45 a.m. and landed in Kingston just before 10 a.m., leaving him with only a few hours to explore the island.
For Droniak, Jamaica conjures up images of food and beautiful beaches. “When I think of Jamaica, I think of food and of course the beaches,” he mentioned.
His main goal? To hit the beach before heading back to the airport. After arriving, he took a recommendation from his Uber driver and visited a nearby waterfall, which became the highlight of his short visit. “It was amazing, there was no one else there,” he said, clearly impressed by the experience.
Later, he enjoyed some jerk chicken before spending the afternoon at Bob Marley Beach, soaking in the sun and the scenery.
Droniak acknowledged that his tight schedule means he often overlooks finer details during his trips. “I’m used to flying with sand in my socks,” he quipped, reflecting on his somewhat carefree approach to travel.
His return flight took off from Kingston at 6:30 p.m. and arrived at JFK Airport around 10:30 p.m., allowing him to be back home that night. The entire trip, including airfare, meals, and transportation, cost him about $382.
This jaunt to Jamaica is just one of around 30 similar rapid trips Droniak has made from New York. He’s also done day trips to Ireland, Japan, and France, testing the limits of short travel experiences. He described a memorable one-day safari in Kenya as a standout moment. “It was a 14-hour flight from New York and I went on safari that day, which was a dream,” he explained.
Droniak attributes his adventurous travel style partly to a semester he spent studying abroad in London, where he discovered how quickly he could travel between countries.
