Police Search for Suspect in NYC Stabbing Incident
Authorities in New York City are on the lookout for a suspect involved in the stabbing of a Jewish man in the chest on Tuesday, which followed what police described as “anti-Semitic” remarks made by the victim.
Details from the police indicate that the victim, a 35-year-old man, had a dispute with the suspect after a chance encounter on the street. Thankfully, his injuries were not serious, and he was treated at a local hospital.
According to police reports, the confrontation occurred around 4:10 p.m. near the 77th Precinct, specifically around Kingston Avenue and Lincoln Place. The unidentified assailant, after making anti-Semitic comments, stabbed the victim before fleeing the scene toward Sterling Place and Albany Avenue.
The incident is now under investigation by the NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force. Video footage that has been circulating on social media reveals a prolonged argument between the two men. After the exchange escalated, the victim pursued the suspect, who then turned and attacked him.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams expressed his concern regarding the incident, stating that “this evil, hateful anti-Semitic violence must end.” He emphasized the need to confront such hatred in the city, expressing his thoughts and prayers for the victim and his family while assuring that the NYPD Hate Crimes Unit is actively looking into the matter.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to reach out to the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline or submit tips via their website.
