A robber shot and killed a 57-year-old woman at a New York City apartment on Monday, authorities said.

The shooting happened around 11 p.m. on Market Street in the Lower East Side, the New York Police Department confirmed to Fox News Digital on Tuesday afternoon.

The murder victim has been identified as 57-year-old Ying-Chu Liu. The NYPD told FOX 5 New York that Liu's husband had been followed up to their eighth-floor apartment just before the murder.

Before Liu could step outside the apartment to see what was happening, two suspects tried to rob her husband and the couple's 32-year-old son also came into the hallway.

A teenager hit an NYPD officer with a stolen car, crashing the vehicle before making a dramatic arrest on a rooftop, according to video.
