New York Knicks Continue Their Legacy Offseason By Bringing Back Patrick Ewing As Basketball Ambassador

Oh man! I bet the energy in New York City is incredible right now!

Patrick Ewing, the all-time leading scorer for the New York Knicks, has reunited with the organization as an ambassador who will be assisting with operations on both the basketball side and the business end, according to an announcement Friday from the franchise.

The 62-year-old Ewing will be directly working with Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau, as well as the front office of the team. (RELATED: Warriors’ Draymond Green Has Tense Back-And-Forth With Reporter At NBA Media Day Over People ‘Worried’ About Him)

“As I said the day my number 33 jersey lifted into the rafters at MSG, I will always be a Knick and I will always be a New Yorker. I can’t wait to get started in this new position and to officially be back with the organization that I love so much,” said Ewing in a statement. “The Garden has always been my home and I’m looking forward to working with Leon Rose, Coach Thibodeau, the team and everyone else that makes this place so special.”

Ewing, who is now in the Hall of Fame, was picked No. 1 overall in the 1985 NBA Draft by New York, and over the next 15 years, was the anchor of Knicks rosters. Ewing led the team to two NBA Finals appearances, one in 1994 and the other coming in 1999.

You have the New York Mets doing their thing in the playoffs, and now the Knicks continuing their legacy offseason… Everything seems swell in the Big Apple.
