New York magazine placed reporter Olivia Nuzzi on administrative leave Thursday night after an internal investigation found that she “had a personal relationship” with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a prominent figure and former candidate in the 2024 presidential race.
“While covering the 2024 campaign, Nuzzi acknowledged to the magazine's editors that he had a personal relationship with a former official connected to the 2024 campaign, a violation of the magazine's standards on conflicts of interest and disclosure,” New York Magazine reported. It said in a statement.

“Earlier this year, my interactions with a former interviewee became personal,” she said. “I did not interview the subject directly or use him as a source. There was no physical relationship, but I should have made it public to avoid creating the appearance of a conflict. I deeply regret not coming forward sooner and I apologize to those I let down, particularly my colleagues in New York.”
A spokesman for Kennedy also denied any sexual relationship and said he met Nuzzi only once.
“Mr Kennedy met Olivia Nuzzi only once in his life – at her request for an interview which gave rise to the smear campaign,” a spokesman for Mr Kennedy said. Fox News Digital.
The magazine said in a statement that if it had known about the relationship, Nuzzi would have been removed from covering the campaign.
“If the magazine had known about the relationship, she would not have continued covering the presidential election. An internal investigation by her publication found no evidence of inaccuracy or bias,” New York magazine said.
“She is now on leave from the magazine while the magazine conducts a more thorough, independent investigation,” the statement continued. “We regret having violated our readers' trust.”
