A 32-year-old mother, Francis Cabello, has been charged with murder after allegedly confessing to a 911 operator, stating, “I killed my daughter,” regarding her 5-year-old daughter, Fabiana. This incident unfolded in their Queens apartment, where the young girl was found lifeless.
Cabello, dressed simply in a long white gown and sneakers, remained silent as police escorted her from the precinct to a car for her arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
Authorities charged her with murder on Thursday evening, a day after Fabiana was discovered unresponsive in their home on 110th Street close to 95th Avenue in South Richmond Hill.
When emergency responders arrived, Cabello told them, “She’s upstairs not breathing,” according to law enforcement sources. EMTs found the girl positioned on her back, with a weak pulse and blood visible from her nose, and despite being rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, she could not be revived.
A neighbor named Carlos recounted seeing Cabello afterward, noting that she “was not crying” and appeared detached, as if nothing had happened.
Cabello’s father revealed that she had struggled with psychological issues and had recently discontinued her medication. He mentioned, “I was paying attention because she was already acting strange,” and expressed skepticism about her doctor allowing her to stop her medication without an assessment. “I found it hard to believe because in her predicament I was surprised that the doctor would authorize that without seeing her,” he added, unsure of the truth behind her claims.
Interestingly, police had visited their home back in April 2025 due to an alleged child abuse incident, which was ultimately not substantiated. Later, in May, they responded to a call regarding Cabello being “emotionally disturbed,” leading to her hospitalization for evaluation.
