New York Post calls out CBS for ‘ridiculous’ fact-check of JD Vance: ‘Shameful moment’

The New York Post editorial board on Tuesday responded to CBS news anchor Margaret's comments after the vice presidential debate moderator attempted to fact-check Sen. J.D. Vance's (R-Ohio) comments about illegal immigration. criticized Mr. Brennan.

During the debate, Brennan interjected when Vance suggested that illegal immigrants were overwhelming government resources in Springfield, Ohio.

“I want to be clear to our viewers: Springfield, Ohio has a large population of Haitian immigrants with legal status and temporary protected status,” Brennan said.

The board said Vance was “understandably frustrated” when he pushed back on the host's interruption.

“The rules were you don't fact-check me. Since you're fact-checking me, I think it's important that I say what's actually going on,” Vance said at the time.

“The situation is made even more partisan by the fact that Gov. Tim Walz told howlers that “illegal border crossings are down compared to when Donald Trump left office,'' which is far from the truth. “Some facts are too good to be confirmed,” they continued.

The board later suggested that the exchange was a nationally televised example of how the media's “obsession” with misinformation and fact-checking is “a pile of horse manure.”
