New York radio hosts learn live on air producer booked wrong Randy Moss

A radio spot in New York nearly went awry on Tuesday, but one of the show’s hosts saved me an awkward interview.

WFAN’s “Boomer and Geo,” New York’s No. 1 morning show, is broadcasting from the Las Vegas venue for Super Bowl LVIII.

In the media world, many interviews are requested and conducted during Super Bowl week. It’s not at all unusual for non-local athletes to appear on shows outside of their market.

It’s also important to note that the show is simulcast across the United States, so despite its focus on New York, anyone across the country can watch “Boomer and Geo.”

Well, the show booked Randy Moss for an interview, but it wasn’t that Randy Moss.

One of the show’s hosts, Greg “Gio” Gianotti, conveniently asked show producer Al “Dukes” Hughes what Moss was promoting. Hughes, who had booked Moss, replied, “It’s something to do with horse racing.”

Geo immediately felt something strange.

“Are you sure this is the right one and not another Randy Moss?” Giannotti asked.

“Is there another Randy Moss?” Hughes replied.

Yes, it does exist — apart from the legendary wide receiver, the “other” Randy Moss is a horse racing analyst for NBC, conveniently works for the NFL Network, and has covered several Super Bowls. .

“Please tell me it’s fake,” Hughes begged.

Gio responded, “This is terrible. You booked a white Randy Moss!”

Hughes felt cheated and said whoever threw Moss was “misleading”.

“In all fairness, this person has to say, ‘Just to be clear, this is not Randy Moss taking over the top of the defense,'” Hughes said, adding, “No problem. ” he said. Appearance canceled. “You can’t say NFL Network and talk about the NFL, the NFL, and then promote Randy Moss on horse racing. That’s so fagazzi.”

Gio admitted he wished he hadn’t asked what Moss was promoting just to see everyone’s reaction when “white Randy Moss” arrived.

“If a bald guy like me showed up for an interview and said, ‘I’m Randy Moss,’ you’d be like, ‘What?'” Hughes said. “How many people booked this Randy Moss thinking they were going to get No. 84?”

Hughes gave some insight into Moss’s conversations with his agent and seemed to take a bit of a beating.

“I’m looking at my email,” Hughes said. “They say, ‘Did you need a mugshot and a biography?’ ‘No, we know who Randy Moss is, we’re fine.’ ‘His biography is Do you need one?” “No, he was a great receiver. I wrote back, “We all know who Randy Moss is.”

Even better, Gio is a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan and brought along a photo of him meeting Moss in Turks and Caicos Islands.
