Prosecutors said a huge amount of images were found on the suspect’s computer, with Detective Patrick Mulholland, of Exeter police, saying: “There were at least 5,600 images of suspected child sexual abuse located on the suspect’s hard drive. In addition, there were more than 400,000 images located on the suspect’s hard drive.”
Authorities began investigating the matter after Google notified them about the stored images, and Dubois allegedly typed in an online search about accidentally saving child pornography to Google Drive and asked how he could find out if Google had reported him to the police.
But Dubois’ defense argued that the suspect was not involved in creating the images, but rather in file sharing.
Mulholland pointed to the depraved nature of the images, saying, “This is graphic material involving multiple adults and one child, one of whom is a young child. And this case remains under investigation.”
The WMUR report said Dubois had co-written several books with author James Patterson, and the TMZ article said he was a former danger! champion.
“Severn River Publishing, the publisher of his book, Terminal Surf, said it was deeply troubled by the allegations against him and had immediately ceased all promotion and sale of his book,” the TMZ article read.
Breitbart News reported in June that a Florida pastor had been arrested on child pornography charges after allegedly using cryptocurrency to purchase child pornography images online. The outlet reported that the pastor has since resigned from his ministry.
