New York’s Highest Court Delivers Final Blow to Voting Rights for Foreigners

New York's highest courts have come to an attempt to extend the ultimate blow by the state Democrats to nearly one million foreigners.

In January 2022, 51 New York City Council Democrats approved an ordinance that would provide green cards, visas and jobs to more than 800,000 foreigners.

Following the lawsuit over the ordinance, the New York Supreme Court in June 2022 held that granting foreigners the right to vote locally violated the state's constitution, which explicitly reserves votes for American “citizens.”

In February, the ruling was upheld by the New York Appellate Unit.

Thursday, New York State Court of Appeals Domination The state constitution “clarifies what our case law has held for a long time, so the ordinance is unconstitutional: Article 2, Section 1 limits voting for citizens.”

“Although Article 2, Section 1, has been amended several times since 1894, the requirements for citizenship persist. There is no evidence that the amendment has amended the understanding that the amendment must be a citizen to vote in New York,” the court ruled.

Whatever the future may be, today's New York Constitution draws a solid line limiting votes for citizens. Therefore, the appealed order of the Appeal Department should be amended at no cost in accordance with this opinion, as so amended. [Emphasis added]

“This is a huge victory over election integrity and the rule of law,” said New York City Councilman Robert Holden (D. Keynes), plaintiff in the case. “The Constitution is clear. Non-citizens have no right to vote. This reckless plan undermined the value of American citizenship.”

As Breitbart News noted, the ordinance was set to have a major impact on local elections, diluting the votes of American citizens living in the city. For example, in 2021, Mayor Eric Adams (D) won the Democratic mayoral primary with less than 7,200 votes.

Pastor Reuben Diaz (D-Bronx) said the ordinance diluted citizens' votes and changed voting rights to foreigners with ties to the global financial system that has long been based in the United Nations, Wall Street and New York City.
