It looks a decent track, reckons Heather Knight, and it’s a high-scoring ground so she wants to set a target. Her team are unchanged.

A key characteristic of a good team is that when they need saving, someone, sometimes someone you don’t expect, stands up to save them – Gus Logie and Jeff Dujon made careers out of doing it, Andy Bichel did it when his side had never needed it more, and Amy Jones did it for England last time out.

But another key characteristic of a good team is elite players who excel consistently – just look at Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy and chums. And that, perhaps, is the area in which this already excellent England team can look to improve: they have lots of talent, but to win the big pots they need to retain all of Column A while adding a little to Column B.

New Zealand, meanwhile – though doing well for periods – are struggling to play well enough for long enough to seriously trouble England. So given that, in the longer limited-overs format, it’s harder for a single player to dominate the game, the tourists start as warm favourites. But things can change very quickly.

3 overs: England 9-0 (Beaumont 5, Boussier 4) Two dots and a clever slow ball yorker on the fifth stump line – very nice one from Kerr J. So Beaumont comes down and turns to leg and gets one – she’s very aggressive so she’s very difficult to bowl – this is the only run from a decent over.

2 overs: England 8-0 (Beaumont 4, Boussier 4) Opening from the other end is Hannah Rowe, but before that there is an inquiry about the ball and a box of spares comes out. Lowe picks her one and off we go again. Communication discusses how players make choices, and when this topic comes up, I always think of Jimmy Anderson. He likes dark-colored ones that feel small in his hands, but he doesn’t see how the former translates into white meteors. Anyway, Lowe found decent form but when she offered width Boussier cut out…but picked out Primer at point, and again the next ball. Regardless, go wide, make sure to stretch, and lunge through the cover point four times.

1 over: England 4-0 (Beaumont 4, Boussier 0) I had a good start, I was an inside ducker at Beaumont, but then I went a little wide. Bates stops with a solid shove in the cover. Beaumont’s continued efforts were in vain after that, with Kerr taking the sting from a drive down the pitch, but she eventually found a gap and made a four-cut at the back-back point.

Amy Jones loves New Zealand. She said she had fun on the field as well as off the field, hit the ball well yesterday and is ready for today. They’ve had some good conversations as a hitting group about communication and how they can work together to make the right things at the right times under pressure.

Looking forward to seeing more of Maia Bouchier – In the truck that was supposed to save her. If she makes a move, something serious might happen.

Of course, New Zealand are without captain Sophie Devine. However, as Kerr A pointed out during the toss, Susie Bates has a wealth of experience in the role, but even if they don’t miss her as skipper, her absence as a player is problematic. isn’t it.

Amelia Kerr said New Zealand got off to a great start last time and put England under pressure. This time it’s about dissolving a partnership. SHe hasn’t captained many players in 50-over cricket before, so this is a great experience for her and she thinks it’s important to find a way to keep up the pressure. She believes the problem is psychological rather than technical. They need to be courageous and make positive choices even under pressure. Her team is no different.

Heather Knight thinks this is a decent course and would like to set her sights on it as it is a high scoring track. Her team remains the same.

preamble

The main characteristic of a good team is that when a save is needed, someone, sometimes someone unexpected, steps up to save them – Gus Logie and Jeff Dujon made careers by doing that. Andy Bitchell did it when the team was in crisis and Amy Jones did it for us last time against England.

But another important characteristic of a great team is elite players who consistently perform well. Look at Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, and friends. And that is perhaps an area where this already good England side can hope to improve. They have a lot of talent, but to win the big pots they need to keep everything in Column A while adding a little bit in Column B.

New Zealand, on the other hand, have been in good form for a while, but have struggled to play well for long enough to seriously trouble England. The tourists start as the favorites, given that the long limited-overs format makes it difficult for any one player to dominate the game. However, things can change quickly.
