Newsom, Democrats, and Jon Stewart Angry About Food Stamps for Needy

Democratic Reopening Controversy

Recent comments from far-left Democrats and socialists, like Jon Stewart, reflect a troubling attitude toward the federal government reopening. It seems they are indifferent to the struggles of those in need.

They actually seemed to prefer keeping the government closed. It’s concerning, really, because if the government had stayed shuttered, millions relying on the federal SNAP program for food would have faced even greater hardships.

In a passionate tirade, Stewart expressed frustration on behalf of the Democratic Party regarding the government’s reopening. He stated, “Damn them for shutting down, we’re less than a week away from significant election results.” He continued, criticizing Democrats for sacrificing their goals, suggesting they didn’t achieve what they wanted. “You sold out the entire shutdown for a promise that wouldn’t deliver later.” It’s pretty striking, the emotion behind those words.

California Governor Gavin Newsom, a prominent figure for the 2028 Democratic nomination, echoed this sentiment, calling the vote to reopen “pathetic” and emphasizing, “It’s not a deal; it’s surrender.” The frustration seems palpable among top party figures.

Interestingly, the senator who eventually broke the filibuster, under pressure from Chuck Schumer, has become one of the most vulnerable candidates for the upcoming primaries. It seems the Democratic establishment’s opposition to reopening the government, and consequently ensuring food stamp access, might complicate matters for many candidates looking for re-election next year.

Critically, this situation illustrates how some within the Democratic Party—including figures like Stewart—appear to prioritize their agendas over the basic needs of the poor. They’re willing to overlook the hunger some face to secure other benefits, like healthcare for illegal immigrants and subsidies for the wealthy.

Sure, SNAP has its issues, often criticized for waste and fraud. Still, the reality is that it helps many who genuinely need it. I can’t help but wonder, where do the Democrats stand on this? What about influential voices like Jon Stewart, George Soros, or Jimmy Kimmel? Their stance feels contradictory at best.

It seems this debate was less about healthcare subsidies than about political gamesmanship. Stewart and others appeared willing to overlook the plight of the underserved just to oppose Trump. The prolonged government closure, lasting 40 days, served as a tool to undermine him and the Republican Party, even if it came at a cost to vulnerable populations.

Hypocrisy of the Shutdown

The entire shutdown felt absurd. Republicans aimed to pass a resolution that would maintain current spending levels, demanding nothing new in exchange. It was actually Democrats who tried to manipulate the situation. They used the shutdown as leverage, despite knowing it would lead to serious hardships, like those faced by people relying on food assistance.

When will it dawn on people that figures like Jon Stewart, Gavin Newsom, and George Soros might prioritize political power over the welfare of others? There’s a narrative that suggests they would go to great lengths, even compromising the well-being of individuals, to achieve their goals.

There’s a long list of grievances too—concerns about cultural changes, crime rates, and other societal issues. Yet, somehow, it feels as though many still support these leaders, despite the evidence that suggests their motives might not align with the average person’s interests.
