Newsom hits back at Trump wildfire comments, says Biden did not 'play politics'

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) on Wednesday condemned President-elect Trump's recent comments regarding the ongoing wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

“This guy wanted to politicize it,” he added, talking about Trump. “I have a lot on my mind and I know what I'm going to say. I don't do it. Today I stood next to the President of the United States and I was proud to be with Joe Biden and he He had the support of everyone in this community and was not political.

Biden visited Los Angeles with California's governor early Wednesday to receive briefings and pledge support for relief efforts. He also canceled a trip to Rome on Thursday as the fires raged.

“He wanted to protect an essentially worthless fish called smelt by giving them less water (to no avail!), but Californians… I didn't care,” he added.

“Now the ultimate price is being paid. I call on this incompetent governor to allow beautiful, clean fresh water to flow into California. He is responsible for this,” he continued. Ta. “And on top of that, there's no water in the hydrants or in the fire planes. It's a real disaster!”
