Newsom says he will ‘go to the ends of the earth’ for Biden

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) said in a recent MSNBC interview that he is willing to go “to the ends of the earth” for President Biden.

When host Alex Wagner noted that Newsom is not running for president despite recent moves to raise his national profile, Newsom said:[n]It could happen. He also questioned why someone would want to run at the same time as Biden, saying he has a “proven track record” and is “a man of character and respect.”

“I'm an old-school guy,” Newsom said. “Talk about loyalty, I would go to the ends of the earth for this guy, I really would. I'm not making it up.”

The comments came a week after California's governor announced he was poised to mount an uphill battle in Biden's re-election campaign in Nevada and South Carolina.

In the same interview, Newsom blasted former President Trump, saying he was “damaged goods” and “no more free to act than ever before.”

“He's unbeatable in the primary, but when it comes to the general election, the general election, he's the most flawed candidate I've seen in my lifetime,” Newsom said. “He's damaged goods.”

He added, “He's not as funny as he used to be. He's more free-spirited, more extreme, and definitely more dangerous on all issues than ever.”

The Golden State governor went after Republicans in Congress earlier this week, including House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana), over border security issues.

“Don’t bring up the weaknesses of the current Speaker of the House,” Newsom said. “So they don't want a deal. A complete stop,” he said, referring to Republicans in Congress.
