California and Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom are rescinding their call for a 2023 national constitutional convention in light of Donald Trump's recent victory and the possibility that Republicans will propose new amendments of their own. I'm making plans.

Wiener's Senate Joint Resolution 1 calls for a national convention to propose a constitutional amendment that would ban gun ownership by anyone under 21, require background checks for all gun purchases, and prohibit the possession and sale of semi-automatic firearms. The content is to cancel the requested September 2023 bill, SJR7. It is known as an assault weapon. Such amendments would require approval by three-quarters of the state legislatures.
Twenty-seven states have requested some kind of constitutional convention, just shy of the 34 needed.
