Newsom Takes a Jab at Trump on Social Media
California Governor Gavin Newsom has made headlines by poking fun at former President Trump in a recent social media post, indicating a “second to second warning” in the ongoing conflict between Blue and Red states. His unique communication style and a playful tone led to this lighthearted jab.
In a post shared on the platform X, Newsom’s Press Office stated, “Donald Trump, the lowest voting president in recent history, this is your penultimate warning!!! (The next one is the last one!).” They additionally teased a press conference with the message, “Next, the final warning. You won’t like it!!! Thank you for paying attention to this issue.”
Trump often takes to his own platform to share similar messages, mixing policy discussions with political jibes. Newsom mimicked Trump’s style, which includes playful gratitude towards followers and quirky punctuation. It seems he had a bit of fun with Trump’s penchant for dramatic warnings, joking that “Trump always kicked out the chickens.”
The White House has not yet responded to inquiries regarding Newsom’s post.
As a potential contender for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, Newsom also recently sent a letter to Trump regarding concerns over redistricting efforts in California. He criticized moves to shape congressional maps for the upcoming 2026 election before any votes had occurred, calling it a “humiliation against American democracy.”
Additionally, Newsom addressed Trump’s recent emergency declaration aimed at ramping up federal crime prevention efforts in Washington, D.C., along with threats to extend similar measures to other Democratic-controlled cities. Newsom remarked, “President Trump is pitching the same tired lies he used in Los Angeles. He claims that Democratic cities like Washington, D.C. have rampant lawlessness,” pointing out that crime rates are actually declining in California amid the ongoing criticisms of Trump. “His authoritarian orders are not about security. They attack the very foundations of our democracy.”
