NFL to Investigate Giants Co-Owner’s Emails with Jeffrey Epstein

SAN JOSE, Calif. — The NFL has announced plans to investigate communications involving Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and Jeffrey Epstein, following allegations of inappropriate exchanges.

On Monday, just before Commissioner Roger Goodell was set to hold his traditional press conference for Super Bowl week, the league finally addressed the emails that had emerged from a recent Justice Department disclosure.

In his statement, Tisch described the discussions as revolving around “adult women.” However, he faced significant scrutiny.

The emails, dating back to 2013, revealed Tisch, now 76, reaching out to Epstein—who had already been convicted for serious crimes—inquiring whether a “Ukrainian girl” was “professional or civilian.”

In another instance, he questioned Epstein about a “Tahitian” woman named “Emily,” asking if she was a “working girl,” which raises eyebrows, to say the least. At one point, he even wondered if a specific woman was considered “fun.”

In one notable exchange, Tisch asked Epstein, “Is my present in New York?” When Epstein confirmed, Tisch proposed taking him out to lunch as a surprise the following day.

Responding to the situation, Tisch claimed, “We exchanged emails about adult women, and then moved on to discuss movies, philanthropy, and investments.” He insisted he never took Epstein up on his lunch invitation and expressed regret over any connection, categorizing Epstein as “a terrible person.”

Interestingly, at least one of these exchanges occurred during a formal NFL meeting. Tisch later offered Epstein two tickets to a Giants game, while Epstein extended an offer to visit his private Caribbean island.

The NFL stated, “The league is aware of the report and Steve’s response. Our office plans to conduct an investigation to determine the facts.”

As for potential repercussions for Tisch or the Giants, it’s uncertain. NFL owners are governed by the league’s personal conduct policy, which is often applied in cases involving player suspensions.

Historically, owners like Daniel Snyder, who sold the Commanders in 2023 amid harassment allegations, faced intense pressure. Similarly, Jerry Richardson sold the Panthers in 2018 after facing accusations of inappropriate behavior towards female employees.

In contrast, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, who may be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame soon, faced no penalties after solicitation charges were dropped in 2020.

It’s worth noting that the Tisch family holds a 40 percent stake in the Giants, meaning that responsibilities may not solely fall on Steve. He has been the face of the ownership since his father Bob exited in 2005, yet his siblings Jonathan and Laurie could take on larger roles if he were to step back.
