NFL Draft results: Giants take QB Jaxson Dart after blockbuster trade

The New York Giants acquired former Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dirt on the 25th pick in the NFL Draft after trading up with the Houston Texans.

The Giants were linked to the dirt in the weeks leading up to the draft, but they were not expected to use their third overall pick for him, and it was estimated that they would go back to the late round to make a trade to pick him.

The son of Giants general manager Joe Shane has speculated that the organization will draft a quarterback after it was reportedly shared a DART video on social media this week.

Over this past season, DART averaged 329.2 yards per game. It’s the third best in the NCAA. In total, he passed for 4,279 yards, 29 touchdowns and just six interceptions, leading the Rebels to a 10-3 overall record and a fourth-place finish in the SEC.

He also proved to be a legal running threat with 495 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.

At 21, he will be the youngest QB in the NFL in the 2025 season.

DART was not predicted as a solid first-round pick after the NFL season. However, his stock rose during the draft process.

When passing drills in the NFL combine, DART is 18 out of 23, and there would have been more completions without some drops from wide receivers. He showed off his arm power and accuracy on various passes, proving that he can make every throw in the NFL.
