Five-time Pro Bowler and three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year JJ Watt on Monday pushed back against the negative noise surrounding Taylor Swift in the sports world.
Watt praised Swift for attending the Kansas City Chiefs game and supporting tight end Travis Kelce in their pursuit of a Super Bowl title.

“I think it’s great. I don’t understand why people are so upset about this,” the former Houston Texans star told Us Magazine. “I mean, they always show celebrities at games. Don’t act like we don’t always show male celebrities at games. I really don’t understand why it’s caused such an uproar. .”
Watt added that Swift’s appearance and the publicity surrounding it “brought in a ton of new fans.”
“I think it should just be celebrated,” he said. “I don’t think it’s her fault they put cameras on her. It’s just the way it is.”

Swift is acutely aware of the spotlight on her. While watching the Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday, she appeared to say to the camera, “Please, please go.”
When she was named Time’s Person of the Year late last year, she revealed that she was always spotted by cameras.
