The Green Bay Packers became the first 7-seed to win a playoff game, but they look nothing like their ranking.

In Jordan Love's first full season as a starter, Green Bay headed to Dallas to face the Cowboys, who had won 16 straight games at AT&T Stadium.

And the match was effectively over before it even started.

The Packers led 27-0 at one point and left the stadium with a 48-32 victory.

They face an even bigger challenge Saturday night in the Bay Area when they take on the NFC's No. 1 seed and Super Bowl favorite, the San Francisco 49ers.

San Francisco is 12-5 this season and is probably the best machine in the league with playmakers all over the place. But as Howie Long said during his time with the Cowboys, all it takes is one bad game at the wrong time.

“They're playing with house money,” Long said of the Packers in a recent interview with Fox News Digital, comparing them to the 2007 New York Giants. That team was a No. 5 seed and went on a magic carpet ride, ultimately upsetting the 18-0 Patriots in the Super Bowl.

“You know what? It's one game. It's not game three, game five, game seven. It has to be hot that day. As long as you're healthy and hot, you're good.” Shot. ”

Long praised the NFL's youngest roster, saying they have “grown together” amid the departures of questionable players amid injuries and Love's early-season struggles. In his first five games, Love completed just 55.6 percent of his passes with six interceptions, but in his final 13 games he threw for 3,348 yards and 27 touchdowns, completing 68.0 percent of his passes with just five picks. .

“Love is in his fourth year and sat for three games, but the player who played in the first five games of the season looked nothing like the player we've seen the last few weeks…” Long said.

”[Aaron] Jones missed six or seven games. [David] If Bakhtiari goes down in Week 1, he will play mix-and-match with the offensive line all year. Three rookie tight ends, six first-year and second-year wide receivers, and they've grown together in some ways over the course of this season. ”

The Packers haven't appeared in a Super Bowl since the 2010 season, when Aaron Rodgers won his first (and still only) title. Since then, they have advanced to the conference championship four times, losing each time.
