The Chargers will begin next season, coming over 6,000 miles from the friendly range of Sophie Stadium. The NFL returned to Brazil and tapped the charger as designated team for the international game.
According to the NFL, the Chargers' opponents will be revealed this spring.
The game is scheduled for Friday, September 5th at Neo Quimica Arena in Sao Paulo and is part of the NFL international series. Once the game begins, the charger will become the first franchise in league history, competing in NFL games on five continents.

Since 1976, the charger has played regular or preseason games in Mexico City, London, Tokyo, Berlin and Sydney.
The Philadelphia Eagles and Green Bay Packers met in Sao Paulo last season in South America's first NFL game.

The Eagles defeated Kansas City chief in Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia is scheduled to play Los Angeles in 2025, but the reality champions have traditionally been opening up the next season at home. Furthermore, the NFL is unlikely to schedule the Eagles for consecutive trips to South America.
The Chargers finished 11-6 in 2024 in their first season under manager Jim Harbaugh after losing 32-12 to Houston in the wildcard round of the playoffs.

“It's an honor to represent the NFL again at the international stage,” said Agu Spanos, president of the Chargers business operations. “It's also a great opportunity to help the game grow and help bring the Chargers brand to millions of sports fans across Brazil and Latin America.”
The NFL has announced that seven regular season games will be played internationally during the 2025 season. The league can schedule up to eight regular season games internationally next season.

In addition to the match in Brazil, London is set to host three games, with the Miami Dolphins playing in Spain's first regular season game. The Indianapolis Colts were selected as the home team for the 2025 match in Berlin, Germany, and the Pittsburgh Steelers will travel to Dublin to host their first regular season game in Ireland.

In 2026, the Los Angeles Rams will be the designated team for the match in Melbourne, Australia. This is the first time an NFL game has been held on that continent.
The NFL full slate for next season's regular season game is scheduled to be released in May.
