Former NFL star running back and Tennessee head football coach Eddie George has switched area codes. According to multiple reports, George agreed to be Bowling Green Falcon's next coach.
Sources told ESPN that the university is expected to officially announce George's arrival on Sunday afternoon. George's decision comes shortly after reports surfaced that the school had extended its offer to four-time Pro Bowlers.

Bowling Green conducted interviews with George on Fridays on each ESPN.
Before coaching, George rose to football stardom during a stellar stint at Ohio State. He rushed for 3,768 yards between him and the Buckeyes, winning the 1995 Heisman Trophy.

Tennessee has achieved success under George. The Tigers punched tickets to the FCS playoffs of this past season, marking the program's first playoff berth since 2013.

Scott Loeffler created the opening for head coaching Bowling Green When he left to work as a quarterback coach with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After Doug Nussmeier followed Kellen Moore, he had to fill in the quarterback coach vacancies. New Orleans Saints. Nussmeier will serve as New Orleans offensive coordinator under Moore during the 2025 season.
George spent most of his professional soccer career with the Titans, then closed his time in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys. He has 10,441 career rush yards and remains the Titan's greatest leader ever.

George's tenure at TSU is consistent with the trends of NFL greats historically taking on head coaching jobs at black colleges and universities (HBCUS) before making the leap into schools competing at FBS levels.

Deion Sanders was named Jackson State head coach in 2020. He left after the 2022 season in favor of his job as head coaching in Colorado.
Meanwhile, former Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick was recently named Norfolk State's next head coach, while Desun Jackson will coach the Delaware State football team this season.
