NFL legend Tom Brady expresses one regret about storied playing career

It’s no secret that Tom Brady took football seriously during his time in the NFL.

During an appearance on “The Pivot” podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl champion expressed regret over his aggressive approach.

“What I wanted to change was, ‘OK, there’s still a part of me that loves…’ You see it when you look at the young players. Like Patrick. [Mahomes] “As a quarterback, you laugh and you have fun,” Brady told former NFL players and current podcast co-hosts Ryan Clark, Fred Taylor and Channing Crowder in May.

“I think, ‘I used to be like that too!’ What happened? I just got too serious.”

Brady appeared to adopt the earnest, robotic approach that the New England Patriots and coach Bill Belichick took during the franchise’s unprecedented run of success.

When Brady became emotional, he would often yell in teammates’ faces on the sidelines or violently smash their tablets.

But Brady seemed more relaxed when he left New England to join the Buccaneers in 2020.

Brady has announced his decision to “permanently” retire from the NFL after the 2022 season, and the NFL icon is now preparing to move into the broadcast booth.

Brady will work with NFL on FOX play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhart to call the Week 1 game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Cleveland Browns on September 8. The game will mark Brady’s debut as the lead NFL commentator for FOX Sports. He also called the UFL Championship game last month.

As Brady looks ahead to the next chapter in his career, he also took time to reflect on what he could have done differently.

“You just learn from it and think, ‘Okay, this is the next phase of life, let’s have some more fun,'” Brady said.

He also spoke about the challenges he faced early in his career.

“so much [of]”I think the early part of my career was just trying to meet new expectations. I was still a 14-year-old kid who just wanted to fit in. I was like, ‘I just want to get on the field and play,'” Brady said. “Now there are a lot of other options.”

“Next thing you know, you’re not sleeping, you’re not eating properly, you’ve been partying a lot and you’re feeling overwhelmed. You’re like, ‘I don’t really like how I feel.'”

Brady has had a busy few months ahead of his highly anticipated move into broadcasting: The Patriots held a star-studded Hall of Fame induction ceremony for him at Gillette Stadium in June.
