Sorry, Patrick Mahomes, NFL Network doesn’t have this in their vault.
A day after the Chiefs’ star quarterback petitioned the NFL Network not to use footage of his 40-yard dash at the 2017 Scouting Combine as part of this year’s coverage, the organization ignored Mahomes’ wishes and named Prospect 2. He showed off his ability to run against people.
In a video shared on X on Thursday, the NFL posted an overlay of Mahomes with Texas defensive tackle Tovondre Sweat and Florida State defensive lineman Braden Fisk.
The NFL captioned the video, “Oops,” and Mahomes responded with a GIF of an irritated child.
Long before the Chiefs selected Mahomes with the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the then-Texas Tech product ran a 4.80 in the 40-yard dash.
Fisk is a 297-pound prospect who clocked in at 4.78 pounds.
He ran a 5.26 on 366-pound sweats.
Despite a rare blemish on Mahomes’ pre-NFL resume, he’s been doing well since entering the league.
The two-time NFL MVP won his third Super Bowl in five seasons last month with a 25-22 overtime victory over the 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.
Mahomes threw for 333 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, winning his third Super Bowl MVP title.
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady recently broke his own 40-yard dash time more than 20 years after participating in the combine, so will Mahomes continue to lead Tom Brady in the future? I don’t know yet.
