Seahawks cornerback Dee Williams attempted to field a 49ers punt as 49ers players and one of his teammates surrounded him. At first glance, the ball appeared to bounce up into the air and leave Williams' fingers. The ball appeared to be recovered by the 49ers.
However, NFL officials determined the ball was down and did not touch Williams. San Francisco objected to the play, but the rule was upheld.
Aaron Rodgers was telling the truth about his involvement in Robert Saleh's firing, says Stephen A. Smith
Prime Video replays showed the ball bouncing off Williams' fingers, but there seemed to be one problem. NFL officials at the headquarters did not have that perspective.
“I spoke to (NFL rules analyst and club spokesperson) Walt Anderson at the command center in New York and he said they didn't understand the improved video we showed them, where the ball touches the fingers. “,” Prime Video said. Rules analyst Terry Macaulay said:
“What they had was raw footage from our cameras. And it wasn't clear to them, it wasn't obvious that they had touched their fingers.”
The play and explanation made X frown.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks punted the ball on their next drive, thwarting their comeback attempt.
