NFL Playoffs: Will Josh Allen achieve a fairytale finish?

NFL Playoffs: Will Josh Allen achieve a fairytale finish?

The wild card round passed, filled with constant excitement. It’s remarkable how the NFL manages to pull this off every season.

Interestingly, the history of the Wild Card Round doesn’t really impact the Divisional Round in terms of intensity. In simple terms, we have four thrilling games set for this weekend.

In the playoffs, every play feels heightened, and that’s pretty much the norm. It’s a period for shaping legacies and witnessing history. No pressure at all on the players!

Caleb Williams and the Bears Are Impressing

There were many exciting games this weekend, but it’s hard to argue that the Bears versus the Packers didn’t provide the most entertainment. The final moments still catch me off guard.

Caleb Williams and the Bears are clearly showing they are a force to be reckoned with. The optimistic expectations for their 2025 season—during Ben Johnson’s first year—seem, well, outdated. They are making waves now.

Observing the Bears play brings me back to when I was a kid, completely absorbed in a video game, unable to look away. It’s that kind of excitement, where focusing too hard could mean missing a thrilling moment. The Bears are living in that exhilarating blur.

My twin sister, who moved to Chicago a few years back, has really embraced being a Bears fan. She loves to slip in “Bear Down” into conversations, and it’s heartwarming seeing her enjoy the thrill of the NFL. It’s a fresh experience for me, working in this field.

I’m really happy she’s experiencing the joys of being a sports fan. We all know the lows that can come with it. Here’s hoping the Bears keep their momentum going because someone in our family deserves a playoff win.

Are the Los Angeles Rams Really Invincible?

I’ve never viewed the Rams as invincible, but they certainly looked nearly flawless during much of the season. Sean McVay has skillfully crafted an impressive offense, even without star players on the offensive line.

Moreover, having an all-time great quarterback and talented players has made their offense feel almost automatic.

Defensively, finding players like Braden Fisk and Jared Barth has been commendable. They’re making the best of some unknowns in the linebacker position.

Certainly, the Panthers are a solid team too. I genuinely believe that. They’ve got talent on both sides, but recent internal conflicts seem to cast a shadow over their atmosphere.

If NFC teams had any fear of the Rams heading into the playoffs, Carolina’s performance probably highlighted their vulnerabilities.

When the Rams played Seattle in the final game of the year, a rematch of the NFC Championship seemed almost certain. Though, it is still quite early to confirm this.

But I won’t pretend to have the same level of confidence in the Rams now as I did earlier. Los Angeles clinched an impressive victory to keep the Panthers alive, yet they almost faced a second defeat in Charlotte this season.

The Panthers deserve credit for their performance, even in defeat, but considering the Rams’ loss to the Seahawks… it makes the situation seem more precarious.

Maybe Matthew Stafford and his teammates will find their footing, but honestly, I have my doubts.

Josh Allen and the Bills: The Underdogs We Love

If Disney were to ask me about the most compelling current narrative, I’d definitely point to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.

Given the latest outcomes in the AFC, it seems Buffalo just played their last game in their current stadium since they won’t host a playoff game. That’s quite a notable piece regarding the Bills, but Alan’s part stands out too.

We all envision how we’ll secure that championship title. The hope is always there—of a season filled with dominance, followed by postseason success. The Bills have tasted that before, only to end up empty-handed. This year feels different.

As I mentioned, Allen and his crew left the comforts of home a while ago, and they’re unlikely to return. They’re navigating a playoff landscape that doesn’t include Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, or Lamar Jackson. The usual threats are out of the way, increasing the stakes. What comes next is unclear, but they’re heading in the right direction.

For sure, it’s not just because I appreciate his wife’s work (Sinners was fantastic).

Josh Allen, beyond his athletic prowess, embodies that “everyman” persona that resonates with fans, whether they cheer for the Bills or not. He seems like a remarkably talented individual just enjoying the moment.

That’s exactly the kind of person I want to root for this season.

Predicting Overreactions from Wild Card Losers

The prompt here is framed to elicit an overreaction, but honestly, I can’t see how the Eagles making a significant move wouldn’t be necessary.

I can’t pinpoint what this “big move” might be, but last season, their offense was among the weakest in the league. It was almost predictable how they’d struggle in the playoffs, and that’s exactly what happened. Imagine a team realizing your worst fears; that was the Eagles for their fans.

Changing offensive coordinators doesn’t seem sufficient—you can see they’ve done that every year under Jalen Hurts. Asking for additional adjustments feels a bit unrealistic.

Nevertheless, something certainly has to give.

Why not give us a wild card loser that doesn’t overreact at all? (Do you catch my drift?)

It’s pretty obvious what the Chargers need this offseason, and there’s concern that the new relationship between the head coach and offensive coordinator could waste Justin Herbert’s prime years.

If they don’t implement meaningful changes to their offensive staff, it’s likely they’ll find themselves in a similar spot in 2026, even with challenges like injuries.

Addressing the core question, I think the Packers might be overthinking their recent losses and are possibly overhauling too much of the team. The defense faltered against Chicago, and that typically means changes, but they were also missing Micah Parsons, who really makes a difference.

On the offensive side, I don’t see the need for drastic changes. They lost Tucker Craft earlier this season and need to rely on other contributors. Even with my experiences, this approach has worked. Making hasty decisions isn’t the route to take right now.
