NFL referee dazzles Giants-Panthers commentators by calling penalty in German
The Munich crowd, and the commentators who called the match, certainly did not expect this.
When calling a false start penalty during Sunday's international game between the Panthers and Giants at Allianz Arena, referee Sean Hochuli called it in German before reciting it in English.
As heard on the NFL Network broadcast, the crowd immediately began cheering, but commentators Kurt Warner and Rich Eisen were surprised by the multilingual move.

“That was just a great flex,” Warner said as Eisen yelled, “Look at Sean Hochuli!”
Interestingly, Hochuli's father, Ed Hochuli, Recited the penalty in Spanish During the first league game in Mexico in 2005.
The Panthers outscored the Giants 10-0 in the first half, ending the second quarter with an interception by Daniel Jones.

Carolina is coming off a 23-22 win over the rival Saints, who parted ways with coach Dennis Allen on Monday following the Week 9 loss.
Meanwhile, the Giants are looking to end a four-game losing streak as Jones' future in New York comes into question.
The quarterback is in the second year of a four-year, $160 million extension that he signed with the Giants in 2023 after an incredible run to the playoffs during the 2022 season.
The Giants and Panthers both entered Sunday with 2 wins and 7 losses.
