There’s quite a bit happening in the NFL as the trade deadline looms at 4 PM ET today. We’re hitting the midpoint of the 2025 season, and while some teams are hoarding future draft picks, others are eager to plug gaps and push for playoff spots as the season progresses.
Some of these trades will definitely impact fantasy football, so let’s break it down a little further.
2025 stats: 44 receptions, 499 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns.
Current Fantasy Rankings: WR33 (Standard), WR27 (PPR), WR31 (Half PPR)
The New Orleans Saints traded wide receiver Rashid Shahid to the Seattle Seahawks for a third-day draft pick in 2026, letting go of the fourth-year player as his contract winds down. Shahid stood out as one of the few bright spots on a struggling Saints team that was 1-8, ranking as the second-leading receiver behind Chris Olave. Having gone undrafted, he seems on-track for a strong career season, especially with his average draft position settling in the low 50s earlier this year; he’s crafted himself into a solid fantasy flex or low WR2 this season.
On the upside for Shahid, he’ll be joining a Seahawks team that’s been performing well, especially after bringing in Sam Darnold. However, joining an offense already filled with talents like Jackson Smith-Njigba, Kenneth Walker III, and Cooper Kupp might dilute his fantasy potential. Meanwhile, the Saints will be looking at rookie Tyler Shaw stepping in at quarterback, which might create more opportunities for Olave and Juwan Johnson going forward.
2025 stats: 33 receptions, 352 receiving yards
Current Fantasy Rankings: WR60 (Standard), WR46 (PPR), WR52 (Half PPR)
The Las Vegas Raiders traded wide receiver Jacobi Myers to the Jacksonville Jaguars for a couple of third-day draft picks next year. This trade came as Myers, who is in his final contract year, had previously requested a trade during the training camp after failing to secure a new deal with the Raiders.
Myers wasn’t exactly setting the world ablaze; he had been averaging in the low 40s for various scoring formats this season, acting as the No. 2 receiver for the Raiders. With Travis Hunter on IR due to a knee injury, the Jaguars were in need of additional receiving power and saw Myers as a suitable option as they aim to stay competitive in the AFC. Although it’s questionable whether moving to Jacksonville will enhance his output significantly, he could still sneak into some sleeper considerations.
As for the Raiders, losing Myers isn’t a major blow for them with All-Pro tight end Brock Bowers coming back, who recently had a standout game with 127 yards and three touchdowns in an overtime defeat against the Jaguars. Tre Tucker seems to be solidifying his role as a top receiving option and likely will keep his place as a top-30 fantasy wideout this year.
2025 stats: 9 receptions, 152 yards
Current Fantasy Rankings: WR115 (Standard), WR114 (PPR), WR115 (Half PPR)
In a notable trade on Tuesday, the Indianapolis Colts chose to trade All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the New York Jets, who gave up two future first-round draft picks in return. Notably, the Colts included Mitchell in the trade package sent to New York.
The 2024 second-round pick has had a limited role since joining the league, with his best performance being a career-high of 96 yards against the Rams this season. However, two costly mistakes during a 27-20 loss were detrimental to his tenure in Indianapolis: one was a go-ahead touchdown failure, and the other involved Jonathan Taylor’s touchdown being negated by a holding penalty. After that challenging game, he barely saw action, receiving only four targets before being traded.
Mitchell hasn’t really contributed much in fantasy formats, and that’s unlikely to change on a Jets team that seems to be rebuilding for the future. Conversely, the Colts have not faced a significant loss offensively, maintaining their strategy moving forward.
