NFL Week 16 picks, odds

Washington Commanders (+3.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles

This NFC East contest is one of the biggest games Washington has hosted this decade, so expect a raucous crowd in Virginia.

The Eagles won the first matchup on “Thursday Night Football,” 26-18, but were still trailing by just two points with five minutes remaining.

Washington will learn from that game and find a way to space Terry McLaurin, who remained stubbornly exposed to one side in the first matchup, and will only target him twice.

Add in AJ Brown getting hurt at the end of the Eagles' win over the Steelers in Week 15, and we'd like Washington to have a chance to keep this within a field goal.

Philadelphia has an impressive 10-game winning streak going into this matchup, and this appears to be the only spot left that could slip up before the playoffs.

Minnesota Vikings (-3) vs. Seattle Seahawks

Normally they would crush the Seahawks in this spot.

It seems natural that they will get three points at home with a solid team. But the Seahawks gave us a reason to pause after their home debacle against the Packers.

Geno Smith left the game early with an injury, but the defense did little to stop Green Bay.

Meanwhile, Minnesota somehow continues to find ways to win.

The Vikings have a balanced offense, and Seattle doesn't have players who can slow down Justin Jefferson.

I also especially like Minnesota's ferocious defense going up against a fearsome Seattle offensive line that has a hard time blocking.

With injuries and mismatches when the Seahawks have the ball, they will be covering the Vikings in the Pacific Northwest.

last week: 1-1. Dolphins (L), Buccaneers (W).

season: 11-19.
