Xavier Worthy is quickly becoming a favorite of Patrick Mahomes on the outside.
After spending most of the first half of his rookie year as a sort of secret weapon in Andy Reid's offense, Worthy has seen a significant increase in his target share as of late.
The Texas product has the second-most targets (35) against the Chiefs over the past five weeks, trailing only future Hall of Fame tight end Travis Kelce.
He turned those targets into pretty solid yards during that span, averaging 49.6 yards through the air on 4.8 catches per game.
Texans vs. Chiefs odds
| team | spread | odds | total |
|---|---|---|---|
| texans | +3.5 (-120) | +152 | o41.5 (-115) |
| chiefs | -3.5 (-102) | -180 | u41.5 (-105) |
The Texans' pass defense has been strong overall this season, but it has shown some cracks recently, allowing just 6.4 yards per attempt over the past three games, just below average.
Worthy may also get some breathing room on the matchup front.
Star cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. will likely match up with five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins, potentially funneling more passes into Worthy's field.
Oddsmakers aren't expecting much from Worthy, and his receiving yard totals are well below his recent production.

Worthy has recorded 61, 46, 54, 41 and 46 receiving yards in his last five games since posting 11 yards in two consecutive games in November.
In last week's 21-7 win over the Browns, he had six catches on 11 targets for 46 yards and three rushes for 30 yards and a touchdown.
This is a great spot to buy a rising young receiver. A few catches may be enough to reach the over.
