Former Raiders defensive back Damon Arnette is once again facing legal trouble.
Arnett was arrested in Richardson, Texas. At 3:30 a.m. local time on January 6, NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport and Clayton Holloway were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of less than 1 gram of methamphetamine. first reported on Monday.
Further details about the arrest were not immediately available.
The Raiders selected Arnette, who played at Ohio State, with the 19th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
He played in nine games in his rookie year, including seven starts, and played in four games in 2021.
The Raiders released Arnett after a disturbing video circulated on social media showing Arnett brandishing a gun and threatening to kill an unnamed person.
He would be picked up by the Chiefs, but was arrested in early 2022 for allegedly pointing a gun at a Las Vegas official and released before playing in a team game.
Arnett was also arrested in Miami later that year and charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving on a suspended license.
“You know, it’s really sad. We try to give people a chance. You offended me. Do you think we’re stupid? We don’t know what’s going on. Do you think we don’t understand? It’s Miami Beach, it’s Miami’s King Beach brothers. Do you think we don’t know that, that we’re stupid, that we were born yesterday?” Arrested Inside, a police officer told Arnett:
“You just dropped a dollar with a tube on it. …Your girl came to pick you up and didn’t say anything. I could have had you sooner, but now… What did you end up going to prison for? Because you’re an idiot.
“I’m just venting because it honestly sucks. You can’t even warn people unless they make a fuss themselves.”
