Charlie Lindgren gave the Tampa Bay Lightning the biggest gift any team could ask for Wednesday night.
Lindgren was the netminder for the Washington Capitals in Florida on the eve of Thanksgiving, with the game tied at three in the third period.
Well, thanks to him, that was no longer the case.

As the puck trickled into the Washington zone on the defensive end, Lindgren came out of the crease and played the puck. Lindgren tried to pass to a teammate, but the net blocked his path.
Instead of passing, Lindgren backhanded the puck directly into his own net, giving the Lightning a 4-3 lead.
Thankfully for the Caps, they weren't too discouraged by the shocking goal and won the game anyway.

About three minutes after the miss, John Carlson scored his third goal of the season to tie the game. Then, with about five minutes left in regulation, the Caps started a power play, and Tom Wilson scored what would be the game-winning goal.
Lindgren entered the contest with a 2.64 GAA. Unfortunately for him, that number was further increased by his own work.
Lindgren had six shutouts in the NHL last year and finished eighth in Vezina voting, which was a career year.
