I feel very close to the Rangers in 2024-25.
Just like last October, the Blueshirts got hit in the cannon, but they still have the NHL's second-best scoring percentage (.917) after six games.
The Rangers are the only team in the Eastern Conference and one of only three teams in the league without a loss in regulation.
The Blueshirts' formula also looks familiar.
The Rangers shine, dominate on special teams, and their goaltending is elite.
The only criticism that can be leveled at this team through two weeks — and that's an overstatement — is that the schedule has been relatively loose, and the only game in which they weren't the betting favorite was the one in Toronto.
But Thursday night, the Blueshirts will have a much tougher matchup as they host the defending Stanley Cup champions at Madison Square Garden.
Rangers vs Panthers odds
| team | money line | pack line | total |
|---|---|---|---|
| rangers | -144 | -1.5 (+180) | o5.5(-122) |
| panthers | +120 | +1.5 (-220) | u5.5 (+100) |
The good news for the Rangers is that the Panthers are not yet at the peak of their powers.
Aleksander Barkov, the best two-way center in the game, was on the sideline and the Cats are understandably feeling the effects of that loss.
Florida has lost two of its past three games and is allowing 3.7 points per game since Barkov was sidelined.
Part of that leakage is due to poor goaltending from Sergei Bobrovsky and Spencer Knight to start the season, but it's also due to an uncharacteristically questionable defense.
Would you bet on the NHL?
Florida's back line is expected to get better as the schedule gets deeper, but the Cats are still trying to piece together a budding unit, and losing Barkov as a security blanket against the opponent's top players has made things difficult. It's getting more complicated.
With the Rangers offense as good as it is and the Panthers struggling to find any form in their own zone, a play that not only helps the Blueshirts win, but also covers the puck line, is likely to find some value in the Garden. seems like a viable method. Thursday night.
The Play: Rangers -1.5 Goals (+180, FanDuel)
