The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Funny Car Driver Ron Capps got caught up in a horrifying crash during the Arizona Nationals on Sunday.
The Capps vehicle quickly slipped off the starting line, and in a blink of an eye the top of his car exploded. He crossed the division and reached the wall of the left guard. Capps managed to get out of his car under his own power.

The NHRA said he was reviewed by medical teams on-site before he was released.
“It was an unfortunate first round. I'm grateful that @Roncapps28 was able to leave and leave,” writes Ron Capps Motorsports on X.
The Capps have won 75 wins with an interesting car and have made the final round of 151. He won three times and finished in the 2023 season four times. In 2024, he reached the final round in four events but was unable to secure a victory.

This season he arrived in the final round at Amalie Motor Oil NHRA Gatonational in Gainesville, Florida.
The Capps finished third last year in the fun car rankings. He was behind champions Austin Prock and John Force.
