Nick Freitas: France’s movement for ‘decolonization’ threatens Western civilization

France has a long history of defending its independence, but recently, host Nick Freitas from BlazeTV has emphasized that the country is now engaged in a very different struggle—one that concerns the very future of Western civilization.

This new conflict involves an unexpected alliance: the left and Islam.

Although they have fundamentally distinct goals and perspectives, they are nevertheless using each other to advance their ends.

Freitas argues that the left holds a misguided belief that Islamists merely want to adopt leftist ideals, suggesting that an enhanced welfare system might be all they need. Conversely, he notes that Islam recognizes its limitations in military and economic power and has adapted its tactics accordingly.

Instead of abandoning their ultimate aims, Islam is shifting toward more asymmetric strategies, a term Freitas explains as one that includes the concept of “taqiyya,” which allows for deceit under specific circumstances. This is often interpreted differently by various religious leaders, resulting in a range of applications.

Currently, Islam is leveraging the left’s narrative to pursue goals of “decolonizing” Western culture, thereby seeking to legitimize its stance morally.

Freitas elaborates, saying that this attempts to create a framework that justifies aggressive actions as acts of self-defense. For instance, he states, “This is decolonization, reclaiming what is rightfully ours. You reside on stolen land, after all.” He insists this narrative is built on the notion that existing wealth is a product of systemic exploitation rather than individual effort.

The push for decolonization in France stems from ideologies that view violence as an intrinsic part of that process. Freitas points out that proponents of these ideas argue that because colonization involved violence, decolonization must follow suit.

He raises the question, “Decolonize what?” asserting that it entails eradicating Western ideologies, including Christianity and capitalism.

“If that’s what decolonization is,” he continues, “then what they really mean is that they want to uproot and dismantle the very culture they accuse of instigating original colonization. That is what the left desires,” he concludes.
