Nick Offerman Reflects on 22 Years with Megan Mullally
After two decades of marriage, Nick Offerman expresses just how fortunate he feels to be with his wife, Megan Mullally.
At the premiere of the Netflix miniseries “Death by Lightning,” he shared, “I wake up in the morning and it’s like there’s something in my butthole. I look over, and Megan looks like a Pixar fawn.” He joked about his own morning appearance, saying, “I’m supposed to look like a crouton first thing, but she’s so stunning that I rush downstairs to wash the dishes, trying to keep her around for another day.”
The 55-year-old, known for his role in “Parks and Recreation,” tied the knot with Mullally, who is 66, in 2003. Offerman affectionately described her as “amazing” while jokingly saying, “I’ve been crunching the numbers… I believe she’s a great person at the highest level.”
In “Death by Lightning,” Offerman portrays President Chester Arthur, focusing on the events surrounding President James Garfield’s assassination in 1881, which led to Arthur assuming the presidency. He admitted, however, that his knowledge of Garfield was limited, having only known about Guiteau from directing the musical “Assassins” in 1990.
Offerman, who has a passion for woodworking, recently published a book titled “Little Woodchucks: A Guide to Offerman Woodshop Tools and Tom Foolery,” aimed at teaching children woodworking skills. He expressed a deep-rooted connection to craftsmanship, recalling how he grew up in a family that valued hands-on skills like sewing and building.
He also shared his concerns about society’s increasing reliance on technology, commenting that corporations and billionaires seem to prefer people isolated with their screens. “I don’t want anyone else doing the thinking for me,” he emphasized. “I want to earn a living with my clumsy mammalian voice, have my wife kiss me, and love my family. I can’t give my iPad any love—that’s what truly matters: our love.”
