Nick Reiner has been charged with the murder of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michelle Reiner, accompanied by additional serious circumstances.
At 33, Reiner entered a not guilty plea on Wednesday regarding two murder counts after the indictment was made public.
He faces further allegations of multiple murders, including special circumstances of ambush murder, along with a charge related to the personal use of a knife in the alleged crime.
In a statement, Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman described the situation as a “grave betrayal” by someone who was loved and trusted by the victims.
Reiner is set to appear in court again for a pretrial hearing on September 15.
He allegedly killed his parents, famed Hollywood director Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michelle, 70, at their home in Brentwood on December 14, 2025. After fleeing the scene, he was apprehended a few hours later.
If found guilty on all charges, Reiner could face life imprisonment without the chance of parole or even the death penalty, depending on the prosecution’s decision.
