At Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party, Rob Reiner’s son, Nick, asked a rather odd question to actor Bill Hader: “What’s your name? What’s your last name? Are you famous?” This curious exchange came just one night before Nick was allegedly involved in a tragic incident with his parents, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Rob introduced Nick, who has had his share of struggles, to Hader early in the evening.
The 32-year-old, known for his work on “Being Charlie,” seemed to be quite inquisitive throughout the night, posing the same question to various guests until he was eventually asked to leave.
During the festivities, there was reportedly a loud argument between Rob, his wife Michelle, and Nick, leading the couple to exit the party after the confrontation.
A source shared with People that Nick was acting erratically, startling the other attendees.
Interestingly, another source told TMZ that Nick’s choice of attire—a hoodie—made him stand out at the otherwise formal gathering.
After a particularly tense interaction with Hader, Nick reportedly stormed out of the party. The following day, a horrific event unfolded: Rob, 78, and Michelle, 70, were discovered stabbed to death by their daughter, Romy, 28, in their home in Brentwood, California.
On Monday, Nick was arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently being held without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles.
Having openly struggled with drug addiction as a teenager, Nick has had a history of violent behavior. Reports suggest that he became aggressive after his parents threatened to kick him out, allegedly under the influence of methamphetamine.
