Nick Sirianni has a much different explanation now for heated moment with Eagles fans

Nick Sirianni sang a different song Monday when speaking to reporters about his interaction with a fan, possibly an Eagles fan, sitting behind the team's bench at the end of Sunday's 20-16 home win over the Browns. was singing.

The Philadelphia coach initially said Sunday he was “enjoying it,” but less than 24 hours later he became even more contrite when asked about the incident, which drew ridicule from Philadelphia and national media. I gave a similar response.

“I'm disappointed and disappointed in how my energy was directed at the end of the game,” he said in a press conference Monday. According to USA Today. “My energy should have been fully focused on coaching, motivating and celebrating with the players, and I had to have better wisdom and insight into when to use that energy, but not at the time. There wasn't.”

It was a much-needed win to stabilize an Eagles team that got off to a shaky start following last year's late-season collapse.

However, a close victory against one of the worst teams in football was hardly enough to reassure the team's supporters.

Fox cameras captured Sirianni interacting with fans as the game at Lincoln Financial Field drew to a close, an interaction that seemed to be a sign of concern for a fan base already growing weary of the Eagles' coach. I didn't fit in.

As the Eagles tied with the Browns at the end of the first half, fans could be heard calling for the franchise to fire Sirianni.

The Eagles coach initially acted somewhat cryptic when the incident was brought up in his postgame press conference, but said he intended to have fun after the win.

“I had fun and I got feedback from everyone (during the bye week) like, 'We want you back, Nick.'” We need your energy. We need everyone's focus,” Sirianni said Sunday.

“I've heard that from several players. I think when I'm having fun, it rubs off on the rest of the football team. I want my players to celebrate after big plays. And if I want things to be the way they are, I should probably do it myself, right?”

At press conferences on Sunday and Monday, Sirianni made positive comments about the historically tough fan base and tried to get along with them.
