Nicki Minaj Critiques Governor Gavin Newsom
Nicki Minaj has recently ramped up her criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom, suggesting he’s attempting to mimic former President Donald Trump in his social media presence. She pointed out that his posts reflect a similar tone to Trump’s, which she finds questionable.
“With Newscam, it’s everything you’ve mentioned. But then, there’s this audacity to joke around on Twitter, obsessing over Trump, trying to be funny when it really isn’t, and then wanting to get into the mud with a female rapper. They completely miss the point,” Minaj expressed during her podcast this week.
A lot of her online remarks have focused on Newsom’s stance regarding transgender children. Last year, she tweeted, “Imagine a man rushing to meet trans kids. Normal adults just want their kids to be safe and happy. Not Gav. Gav Nots. GavOUT. I’m ready for the next guy; I’m bored.”
She advised Newsom to reconsider trying to compete with Trump, noting, “But Trump is already president, right? He’s won. What are you even doing with this? It feels like a journey destined for disaster.” Minaj also told Miller that he doesn’t seem to grasp that his jokes only appeal to a select few.
In response to negative comments from Newsom’s assistant, who posted a photo of a Nicki Minaj T-shirt tossed in a trash can, Minaj fired back. “Nobody cares about Newsom’s comments online. It’s just embarrassing for him, especially when he goes abroad to criticize our country. We don’t want him as president. Loyalty matters, and he has shown he lacks it.”
Recently, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Newsom raised concerns that the Trump administration is assaulting freedoms like expression and assembly. He claimed that his planned speaking event was canceled due to governmental pressures.
Minaj expressed frustration about unreturned calls for assistance from the agency regarding smear campaigns against her on Twitter. “He completely ignored those calls and then starts talking about women in rap, trying to intrude on our space. Thus, I felt the need to remind him who’s in charge on Twitter.” Intriguingly, she’s publicly shared a mashup video linked to Jeffrey Epstein set to a diss track directed at her by Megan Thee Stallion.
As of now, there’s been no response from Newsom’s office to these criticisms.
