Nicoled Kidman’s Recent Divorce
Nicoled Kidman is facing divorce for the second time.
The actress, known for her versatile roles, has encountered significant upheaval, first with Tom Cruise and now with Keith Urban.
At 58, Kidman officially filed for divorce from Urban, who is 57, on September 30 after nearly two decades of marriage.
Sources indicate that Kidman is feeling “very betrayed” and “shocked” by the news, reminiscent of the time when Cruise, now 63, filed for divorce back in 2001.
Much like her past experience, just before the split, Kidman marked an anniversary milestone with Urban.
The couple had wed on December 24, 2006, and had just celebrated their 10th anniversary before announcing their separation in early 2001.
Following the dramatic end to her marriage with Cruise, which became public shortly after their anniversary, Kidman expressed disbelief in the legal documents. She mentioned being together just before the split “celebrating their anniversary with friends,” adding layers of complexity to the breakup saga.
She reportedly tried to save her marriage to Urban as well, indicating perseverance despite their challenges.
During the turbulence of her relationship with Cruise, she made efforts to seek counseling, hoping to reconcile differences. However, Cruise ultimately made a definitive decision to end the marriage, stating that he had no intention to pursue counseling.
Kidman dove into her work post-separation, believing it might provide an escape, but soon realized that wasn’t entirely effective. “To be honest, I was running away from my life at that point,” she revealed in 2015, signaling a period of introspection.
Despite her Oscar win in 2003 for “The Hours,” Kidman felt an emptiness. “It really was an epiphany,” she said. “I was sitting in Beverly Hills, feeling the loneliest I had ever been.”
Fast forward to 2005 when she met Urban at a gala, and they married a year later. Just months before their separation, she reflected on nearly 19 years of marriage.
Reports suggest that Kidman and Urban may have separated as early as June, with him having vacated their shared home.
In her filing, Kidman cited “irreconcilable differences,” expressing deep emotional pain over the breakup.
Insiders hint that Urban may be seeing someone new, with rumors circulating around Nashville, though it’s unclear when this relationship started in relation to their split.
It’s said that for those close to them, the tension brewing in their marriage wasn’t entirely a surprise; it had been building for some time. The couple has reportedly settled on a parenting plan for their two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
The current agreement suggests that their kids will stay primarily with Kidman, with both parents sharing major decisions regarding them.
This divorce marks Kidman’s second, while it is Urban’s first. As for Cruise, he has experienced two additional divorces following his marriage to Kidman—most recently to Katie Holmes.
