Nicole Scherzinger Discusses Christianity in Recent Interview

In a fresh interview with Variety magazine, Nicole Scherzinger, the former lead singer of the Pussycat Dolls, spoke about her Christian faith, describing it as receiving an unfair portrayal. She emphasized the importance of Christians leading by example.

“I think Christianity does get a bad rap, but I think that’s why true Christians have to lead by example and be a light,” Scherzinger remarked. The pop star also touched upon her involvement with her church community and the need for Christians to express their beliefs positively.

Scherzinger reflected on a moment from last year when she faced backlash on social media for her views. Following the 2024 presidential election, she commented on a post from comedian Russell Brand, expressing her admiration for his “Make Jesus First Again” hat, which garnered significant criticism. Her comment was perceived as linked to Trump’s slogan, “Make America Great Again.”

After realizing the potential misunderstanding, she deleted her comment and apologized publicly, stating, “The many marginalized communities hurt and concerned about the outcome of the presidential election are the people I care about most.” She affirmed her support for those communities, adding that Christ represents peace and unconditional love.

Looking back on the incident almost a year later, Scherzinger expressed no regrets about supporting the Christian message behind Brand’s posts and noted her pride in being part of Hollywood’s Christian community. “There’s a great church in Hollywood that I go to. Most of my friends in Hollywood are Christians,” she noted.

Discussing her background, Scherzinger highlighted how her faith has been a pivotal part of her life. Born in Honolulu to a single mother, she later moved to the mainland with her family. Her grandparents, devout Christians, instilled strong values in her from an early age. She added that her father transitioned from an atheist to an archbishop in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

“My Tutu’s mother was pregnant 22 times, had four miscarriages, and had 18 children. She lived in a small three-bedroom house and had no money, but she had a strong faith,” Scherzinger said, emphasizing the deep-rooted faith in her family history.
