Nigel Farage faced a second attempted assault in a week since returning to the forefront of British politics, with protesters hurling objects from a construction site at activists as they walked past.
Nigel Farage, the Brexit pioneer and current leader of Reform UK, campaigned for a local candidate in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, on Tuesday and was greeted by waving supporters, according to a video he posted, before a man in a red shirt shouted “fascist, fascist scum” and threw an object, narrowly avoiding Farage.
A huge thank you to South Yorkshire Police today.

The unidentified man broke into a roadside construction site, where he was allegedly picked up and thrown away items from a storage box for construction materials before being manhandled by construction workers. He fled the scene before being apprehended by police.
South Yorkshire Police told Breitbart News: “A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of offences against the Public Order Act following a disturbance in Barnsley city centre today.”
“It is believed the man threw an item from a nearby construction site. The suspect was quickly apprehended and is in police custody.”
Mr Farage has vowed to continue campaigning despite the attempted violence, writing this morning: “My huge thank you to South Yorkshire Police today. I will not be intimidated or cowed by violent left-wing mobs who hate our country.”
A protest against Farage was also taking place just metres away from where the object was thrown, with activists holding signs reading “Immigrants welcome” and “Fuck Farage”.
The attack came just days after a woman was arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with a man who is believed to have thrown a milkshake in Mr Farage’s face.
