‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ Star Ken Page Dead At 70

Veteran voice actor and Broadway star Ken Page died Monday at the age of 70.

Page’s representative, Lance Kirkland, confirmed that the “Nightmare Before Christmas” actor passed away “very peacefully” in his St. Louis home Sept. 30, according to TMZ. Kirkland said Ken sat down in his chair and passed away in his sleep.

“He was a beautiful, talented man who was larger than life. Ken was loved and adored by so many and will be missed so much,” Kirkland told TMZ in a statement.

Page’s friend Dorian Hannaway was the first to share the tragic news on social media. She took to Facebook on Monday evening with a very brief message.

“Ken Page has passed onto the next show. My heart is broken,” she wrote to her social media account.

Page was best known for voicing the villainous Oogie Boogie in Tim Burton’s 1993 animated musical, “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

His talents spanned across a variety of different genres. Among his numerous contributions to the world of entertainment, Page’s star shone especially bright on the Broadway stage. His passion for theater was evident in his portrayal of the lion in the 1975 production of “The Wiz,” and as Nicely-Nicely Johnson in the 1976 Broadway rendition of “Guys and Dolls.” He was also in Andrew Lloyd Webbers’ “Cats” in 1982, according to TMZ.

Some of Page’s other notable credits include roles on “Family Matters,” “All Dogs Go to Heaven,” “Sable,” “Dreamgirls” and “Adventures in Wonderland.”
