NIH cuts off $620K in funding to prevent pregnancy in transgender boys

Trump administration officials have cut off federal funds worth $620,288, which was confirmed by the postal service, aimed at preventing pregnancy in transgender boys.

The grant entitled “Comprehensive Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program for Transgender Boys” was given to the Center for Innovative Public Health Research, a nonprofit public health research group, by the National Institutes of Health.

All funds have been saved after the grant was cut this month, according to officials who confirmed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). I'll make a point about the cut.

“Youths who are assigned women at birth (AFAB) and identify with transgender are at risk for sexual health outcomes, not as girls, but are effectively excluded from sexual health programs.” Grants the data given to the government I explained it.

“This lack of programming may contribute to sexual health disorders. Data suggest that young people beyond AFAB are less likely to use condoms when having sex with people with penis, and at least as likely to get pregnant as cisgender girls.”

To remedy that problem, researchers conducted focus group tests on transgender boys to help measure unprotected gender, condom use, birth control, HIV/STI tests and prep pill use.

Using that research, the Innovative Public Health Research Center wanted to readjust the Girl2Girl program, which functions to be more inclusive in Transgender boys, to prevent unintended teenage pregnancies.

Approximately 3.3% of high school students consider themselves transgender in 2023. According to survey data From the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Overall, about 3% or 1 million Americans identify as transgender. All CDC.
