The issue: Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley announced she would be voting for Donald Trump.
Nikki Haley took an important step in trying to end the feud and unite the Republican Party by publicly stating, “I’m voting for Trump” (“United Republicans vs. Divided Democrats,” May 24).
She also warned former President Donald Trump that he would be wise not to “reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and assume they will support you.” She ended her statement by calling the Biden administration a “disaster.”
If Trump can take full advantage of this while highlighting Biden’s devastating impact on the country – Republican unity and the millions of independent, self-reflecting Democrats who align with him – he should win the election. Trump is poised to stage the greatest comeback in the history of American politics.

Nikki will hold her nose and vote for Trump, she was a very good UN ambassador and is probably looking for work, but she’d be a fool not to realize that this once great country is heading for ruin.
If you love the American people and your country, vote like Haley did.

Many fair-minded people have praised Haley for her honesty and courage in standing up to and criticizing President Trump.
Now we know it was all an act. That brief period of civility and patriotism is gone. Haley is vowing to vote for a man who believes he has absolute immunity from any crime, who has exacted revenge on his many enemies in a second term, who has tried to shut down or shut down media outlets that don’t write good things about him, who pardoned the rioters who marched on the Capitol, and who recently campaigned on a Hitler-like “empire.”
“Haley has chosen politics over her principles and has betrayed them. She has inflicted further damage on the Republican Party that her predecessors have failed to acknowledge. She will not be remembered in the annals of history as a national leader who could stand tall.”

It’s no surprise that Haley has said she would support Trump in the election, and if he wins, she would likely seek a position like Secretary of State.

The issue: The unprovoked assault of actor Steve Buscemi in midtown Manhattan in early May.
Fortunately for suspect Clifton Williams, actor Steve Buscemi didn’t transform into Nucky Thompson while the “Boardwalk Empire” star was being assaulted (“Buscemi Slugger” Gets Jail Time, May 19).
Once again, mental health awareness is needed to make New York City safer. No wonder tourism is down.

I guess attacking a famous actor provokes a lot of outrage, but attacking police officers or ordinary citizens doesn’t seem to bother people. I wonder why that is.
Our justice system is just as dysfunctional as the Biden administration.

The suspect, who has been arrested for numerous crimes and still roams the streets of New York City, is hoping his public defender will allow him back on the streets.
There continues to be a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of law-abiding residents. I have noticed free pepper spray being handed out, but rest assured everyone, criminals will get their hands on a few cans. This will never happen in Florida.
