The small unincorporated community in northern New Hampshire was the only one in the Granite State to vote in the midnight voting tradition in Tuesday's primary, with all six registered voters voting for former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley.
Six Dixville Notch voters cast their votes after voting opened at midnight, following a tradition that began in the 1960 election.
Two other communities that typically vote first in the state have decided not to participate in late-night voting this year. Instead, primary voting will be held during the day at Hart's Location and Millsfield.

“Millsfield's population is aging, and it's becoming increasingly difficult for people to get up in the middle of the night to vote,” Millsfield Elections Director Sean Cote previously told WMUR.
The process of voting and counting votes in Dixville Notch is quick considering the small number of voters, and results are quickly reported nationally.
Four of the community's late-night voters were registered Republicans, and the remaining two were independents.

In New Hampshire, registered Republicans and Democrats must vote for their respective party's candidates, while voters without a party affiliation must choose a Republican or Democratic ballot when voting.

New Hampshire's vote will not include President Biden, but New Hampshire, with its more diverse population, filed for a primary because the Democratic National Committee had scheduled a Democratic primary ahead of South Carolina. There wasn't. .
Still, the New Hampshire Democratic Party is pushing forward with a write-in campaign to elect Biden.
